Volcano in a Cup Experiment Friday, January 26h, 2018 Room 4 Newsletter Dear Families, This Sunday, January 28th, we will kick-off Catholic Schools’ Week with mass at 11:30am in the church. Open house will follow from 12:30-3:30. All Families are invited to come. All students who plan to attend mass and/or open house are asked to come dressed in their school uniform and will receive a free dress on February 6th. Catholic Schools Week is filled with fun dress up days that are attached to this document. February 6th is the 100th day of school! Our scholars are 100 days smarter. In only 100 days your kinders have built a loving, forgiving, and helpful class community that they can learn and play in. Many scholars entered kindergarten barely knowing how to write their first names, now they can write full sentences and read books all by themselves. They can add and subtract fluently and are so knowledgeable. Please make sure to help your student at home to create a poster board decorated with 100 objects. They can organize their objects by 1’s 2’s 5’s 10’s or 50’s. Due Feb.6th We have had lots of water bottle spills lately. Please make sure that your scholar comes to school with water bottles with a small opening to avoid spills. If your scholar has hot lunch please ensure that you still bring them a snack to eat. Reminders: -Bring in photos for our class prayer book -Please turn in your intent to return to St. John Catholic school slips Feb.1 -Valentines day celebration is on Feb. 13 and completed valentine mailboxes Blessings, Ms. Sanders

Friday, January 18th, 2018 Room 4 Newsletter Dear Families, We had an amazing week in kindergarten! This week we read and wrote about what we see in the sky. We modeled, counted, and wrote the numbers 11 and 12 in two ten frames. During 2nd step with Mrs. Reardon the kindergarten students learned about the word “frustrated” and how to react to big emotions. This Saturday afternoon is the alumni basketball game, cheerleading performances, and staff vs. 8th graders basketball game. I hope to see you there! Save the date:Take Home Projects -We will be creating a class prayer book so start saving/printing photos of people your scholar would like to pray for, we will need the photos by Friday, January 27th. (We will keep the photos so make sure the photos are not originals.) -The 100th day of school is February 6th and there will be a 100 day project that your scholar will create at home and present to the class. -Valentine's day celebration will be on February 13th since Ash Wednesday is on the 14th. There will be a Valentines mailbox project which will be a great opportunity to be creative with your scholar at home. (start looking for inspiration on websites like Pinterest) Thursday, January 11th, 2017 Room 4 Newsletter Dear Families, Happy New Year! I hope you all enjoyed your break with family and friends. We sure were excited to start back school and had an amazing week back, especially with learning fun facts/ playing the poison dart frog game! This week our stellar scholars learned all about Martin Luther King Jr. We studied the importance of treating everyone fairly no matter their culture, background, or race. The students performed a song for the Martin Luther King Jr prayer service for the student body. They did a beautiful job, they honored his legacy, and sang with all of their hearts. Reminder we do not have school on Friday January 12th and Monday January 15th. Catholic School's Week is at the end of the month. On Friday, February 2nd we will have a half day and the students will participate in our school Olympics. Each class is supposed to wear their class color or class t-shirt. Coach Joe has offered to make shirts for our class. The shirts are $10. This is not mandatory but just an option if you would like to have a class shirt. Please send CASH with your child's size by Wednesday. We are looking forward to our upcoming field trip to the Chabot Space and science center on Friday, March 2nd. We will be learning all about science, space, and astronauts! If you have not done so yet please turn in your permission slip, money ($16.25 each), and driver/chaperone paperwork. I need to turn in all the final paperwork and money to Chabot by TUESDAY. Thanks Blessings, Ms. Sanders |
