Friday, April 28th, 2016 Room 4 Newsletter Dear Families, Welcome back! We are in the home stretch of our school year. Graduation is just around the corner and our scholars are all very excited to be “first graders in training”. Let’s finish the school year strong by following the rules, staying on task, being model citizens, and giving our best everyday. Teralani V. is the kindergarten student of the month! Teralani is a healthy, well-rounded individual and an absolute delight to have in our classroom. Outside of school Teralani also participates in Cheerleading, Karate, and Ballet. I am amazed at how Teralani balances her academic and social endeavours so well. Teralani exceeds expectations and is an absolute gem among the crowd, we are so blessed to have her at St. John’s. Multicultural day is coming up soon! Please start talking with your scholar about family traditions and culture. There will be a fun and creative multicultural project sent home on Monday to express and celebrate our very own kindergarten diversity, heritages, and differences. We are just a couple of weeks away from our Oakland Zoo field trip! If you are planning to chaperone or drive please make sure you have all of the required paperwork turned in to the office. Thanks! Blessings, Ms. Sanders

Friday, April 13th, 2016 Room 4 Newsletter Dear Families, Happy Easter break! Spring is a great time to start good habits. Talk, read, and sing early and often with your child. Enjoy this week with your scholar and make a change. Today your scholar is being sent home with his/her plant to keep. Each student has planted a seed in their insect themed pot and has been watching it grow in our classroom. Please make sure your kinder is watering their plant and place it where it can receive plenty of sunlight. It is the kindergarteners responsibility to care for their plant. Please look over the returned classwork and tests that are in your scholar’s folder to see which skills your student has mastered and which skills still need to be sharpened. There is an optional spring break packet that your super star can complete if they have extra free time over the break and want to keep their minds busy. Have a fun and safe Easter, Blessings, Ms. Sanders Friday, April 7th, 2016
Room 4 Newsletter Dear Families, This week your scholars learned a lot of new skills. We learned about trying our best, the season of Lent, what makes objects move, as well as how to tell time. Our new popcorn/sight words are: do, want, just, down, little, only. This week we have also been practicing how to work as a group. Your scholars made team flags for their table group, where they had to work together and agree on a team name and all contribute to the flag. They did an amazing job and Ms. Sarah and I are so proud of them and how much they learned and grown so far this year. Kindergarten and eighth grade will be performing the stations of the cross on next Thursday, April 13th at 11:00am. Each student will need to wear a black (black long sleeved shirt and black pants) on this day. All families are welcomed to attend! Thank you to all of our kindergarten families for your generosity and leaving your heart print in our classroom. Our class just loves the new rugs and pillows, it makes our classroom so welcoming and comfortable. I will be posting photos of the new additions to our classroom this weekend so please look at our classroom website, www.mssanderskindergarten.weebly.com |
